Today in a press conference, Acting Director of ICE, Mr. Todd Lyons announced the agency’s expanded oversight of the F-1 OPT program, and it alleges that the agency has found fraud nationwide. Director added that ICE has identified over 10,000 foreign students who claim to be working for highly suspect employers. Specific details are not shared in the press conference due to ongoing investigations, but both ICE and HSI said further information on investigations is going to come out in coming days. Recently DHS proposed a new rule aimed at reforming the F-1 OPT program. The proposed rule has not been published yet.
